Description

Subject Matter:

La Visitation belongs to the "Album de la Revue Blanche," a portfolio of prints by artists associated with La Revue Blanche, a periodical of art and literature. The album featured works of several members of the Nabis group, to which Denis was a founding member, and was published in Paris in 1895 by L'Estampe Originale. This piece is representative of Denis's flat painting style and preferred use of muted colors.

Physical Description:

A faintly colored print showing one figure in the lower left driving a covered wagon and one other figure in a dress in the middle of the image. In the background is a body of water with three sail boats. The print's title is in the lower left of the picture.
