Description

Subject Matter:

A scene from the book Daphnis and Chloé, which tells the story of two abandoned infants adopted by sheparding families who find each other and fall in love while overcoming numerous challenges to their relationship, such as pirate attacks and kidnappings.  

Physical Description:

On a yellow, green and blue background, a figure of a woman in blue lies on the ground and a figure of a man in red sits beside her with his hands on her.  A bird (the arondelle, or hirondelle, of the title) rests on the woman's chest as well.
