Description

Subject Matter:

Lombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. In this print, made during the artist's stay on the island, Lombard boldens the natural lines of the rocks on the cove to draw attention to the geometry of the rock formations.
