Subject Matter:
Number twenty-five of fifty, the series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces.
Physical Description:
In very frenetic lines, this print shows two interwined abstracted nude bodies, one female and one male. The print is titled, numbered, signed and dated in pencil at the bottom of the page.
