Description

Subject Matter:

Francis Bedford was an acclaimed British landscape photographer with a background in illustration. His photographs seek to balance the natural and man-made worlds. In this image, a small river, Badgworthy Water, which flows through Malmsmead on Exmoor, between Devon and Somerset, England extends through the scene. It is in Doone Valley which is the setting for the novel Lorna Doone. In this idyllic scene, the Malmsmead bridge leads to the village.

Physical Description:

This photograph depicts a village with dwellings set in a hillside. A small bridge reaches over a river, which extends from the foreground through the middleground of the scene.
