Description

Subject Matter:

This page was cut from a large lectionary or a book of different biblical texts used in worship services in an Orthodox church. The manuscript was probably copied in Greece. The very clear and legible script style is called Post-Byzantine Miniscule. It needed to be easy to read by the clergy during a service. Different colored capital letters indicate the first letter of a word in a new section of text.
This page contains readings for services on the second Saturday after Easter.
