Subject Matter:

Beach People is part of an ongoing series of work by Stephen DiRado. He began photographing at Aquinnah—formerly Gay Head, until 1997—in 1988. A section of the beach is clothing optional. The series unflinchingly documents the beachgoers, portraying a seemingly intimate view into the lives of the visitors.

Physical Description:

A photograph of a group of people on a beach, by a large rock. A nude couple leans against the rock, embracing one another. A clothed man sits on top of the rock looking out at the water.
