Description

Subject Matter:

Lombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. Lombard doesn't just depict natural subject matter but incorporates the marks of human presence i.e. buildings. Yet the buildings are completely integrated into the landscape because the artistic treatment of the natural and man made elements are the same.
