Description

Subject Matter:

Lombard summered in Monhegan, Maine and developed much of his aesthetic and subject matter there. Monhegan was a well known artist colony that had existed since the mid-nineteenth century. The house is not the centerpiece in this sketch, rather it is part of a larger whole. Man's presence is not perceived as an intrustion but as natural.
