Description

Subject Matter:

"Perhaps because its life is so short, the Morning Glory is associated with mortality, but the variety of size and colour and daintiness of petal makes its brief blooming a joy to be remembered...The Morning Glory has often been the subject of paintings and poetry."

Koehn, Alfred. Japanese Flower Symbolism. At the Lotus Court, 1940.

Physical Description:

Morning glories are rising from the bottom of the scroll with a butterfly flying above them. There is a signature and seal in the bottom left corner. There is an orange border around the scroll.
