Description

Yvonne Jacquette's favorite vantage points are tall buildings and airplanes. Her images are essentially composites that synthesize numerous moments or views. Though they are representationsl, they reveal Jacquette's interest in form through their carefully structured surfaces; the decorative play of patterns, shapes and colors; and the traces of the artist's touch. The repetitive strokes and scribbles of the lithographic crayon, and the dabs and splotches of liquid ink, give a pulsating quality, while the vivid colors capture a vibrant impression of flickering city lights and energetic movement.
