Description

Subject Matter:

Noli Me Tangere belongs to the "Album de la Revue Blanche," a portfolio of prints by artists associated with La Revue Blanche, a periodical featuring art and literature. The album featured works of several members of the Nabis group, to which Roussel also belonged, and was published in Paris in 1895 by L'Estampe Originale. This print refers to Christ warning Mary Magdelene not to touch him once she recognized him after his resurrection.

Physical Description:

This is a dark black-and-white print with two figures in the upper left portion of the image. The figure dressed in white robes extends a hand with pointing finger to the second figure in grey dress. The two stand in front of a cross.  Below the figure in grey, towards the bottom left corner, the faint image of a distorted face or skull is visible.
