Description

Subject Matter:

Peter Sager is a Canadian artist who often uses his native surrounding as inspiration for his works. As suggested by the title, this print is likely Sager's representation of the landscape of an island. Natural and native forms such as islands, ice-floes, and native totems are common in Sager's work. This print represents the abstract style Sager employs, focusing on simple, but structural forms and strong, contrasting colors.

Physical Description:

This black and white abstract print consists of a central form, a black almost square-shape with a wavy top edge and curvy areas within. A curved black line appears in the upper right portion of the work. Random dashes of black appear throughout the background of the print from the carving of the linoleum.
