Subject Matter:

Onggi jars like this were produced in the Mapo-gu area of Seoul and the Gimpo-si and Uijeongbu-si areas of Gyeonggi-do.

Physical Description:

This reddish-brown jar has a handle on each side. The body was pushed inwards where the handles are attached. Its base is flat and partially glazed. Fine, white grains of sand are added to the clay. The glaze is well fused, yielding a glossy surface overall. There are three spur marks on the rim of the lid. Onggi jars of this type were produced in the Mapo-gu area of Seoul and the Gimpo-si and Uijeongbu-si areas of Gyeonggi-do.
