Pagoda of Hommon Temple, Ikegami
Kawase Hasui
Description
Hasui was well-known for his landscape prints portraying Japanese historical buildings and scenic locations. In this work, he captures the morning sun shining on the upper roofs of a famous pagoda at the Hommon-ji temple. Influenced by Western Impressionism, the artist often depicted the same scenery at different times of the day in order to observe the change of light.
