Description

Subject Matter:

This Dou 豆, tall stemmed black earthenware wheel-thrown pedestal bowl vessel is of the Liangzhu Neolithic Culture (3100-2200 BCE) and very similar to ceramics from the Shandong Longshan Culture (3000-1900 BCE). 

Physical Description:

This black-gray earthenware, tall-stemmed pedestal vessel has a bowstring pattern around the body and a wide flaring rim on a narrow base. There is significant loss to the rim.
