Description

Subject Matter:

This Dou 豆, tall stemmed black earthenware wheel-thrown pedestal bowl vessel of the Liangzhu Neolithic Culture (3100-2200 BCE) is very similar to ceramics from the Shandong Longshan Culture (3000-1900 BCE).

Physical Description:

This gray earthenware tall-stemmed pedestal vessel is covered in black burnished slip with a bowstring pattern and a few piercings around the body. There is a flaring rim on a narrow base, and loss of rim.
