Description

Subject Matter:

This print was used by Miro in a poster for his exhibit at Galerie Maeght in June-July 1961 (Galerie Maeght, Peintures, Murales, Miró). Although more monumental than the smaller and more intricate motifs from his earlier work, it is similar in that it is his signature biomorphic forms and limited palette but bold and expressive colors. Miro began creating lithographs fairly late in his career-- he produced his first color lithographs in 1948.

Physical Description:

This abstract multi-color design shows a large red, bean-shaped circle filled in with yellow. A black swoosh encircles its waist and a green oval rests above it almost like a parasol.
