Description
Subject Matter:
This scene refers to when Krishna lifted Mount Gavardhan and used it to shield the town of Vrindavan from torrential rains sent by indra. Shri Nathji's hand held in the air indicates this event. Shri Nathji is the incarnation of Krishna particularly worsipped by cow herding communities.
The dance they do is called the Rosalila, the dance celebrating love between Krishna and the gopis (cow herders). Krishna appears in multiple forms so that gopis can link arms with him in the dance and feel his love.
