Description

Subject Matter:

In this photograph of the mortuary temple of Ramses II the Great, four colossal statues of the New Kingdom pharaoh in mummified form stand attached to four stone piers. Other columns as well as various carved stone debris surround this sculptural group, all amid mostly flat, rocky terrain. Three of the four statues are headless, though a large stone fragment carved into the shape of a head lies on the ground near the lower-left corner.

Physical Description:

A grouping of columns and figural sculptures stands amid other ruins and stone debris in a mostly flat, rocky landscape.
