Description

Bailey displayed his model's body on an uspecified surface and in an indeterminate space. Her eyes do not catch ours. In its matter-of-fact presentation and lack of communication with the viewer, this nude evokes the works for which this painter and printmaker is perhaps most readily associated: his quiet, meditative still lifes featuring line-ups of pots along ledges.
