Rencontre au Bois
Kees van Dongen; Guilde International de la Gravure
Description
Subject Matter:
Kees van Dongen published several prints in the 1950s that are idyllic park scenes of Paris and romantic encounters between people. This is perhaps the Bois de Boulogne. He was an early member of the Fauvist movement and the style influenced his work throughout his career. The influence can be seen in Recontre au Bois in the pinkish trees and the purple shadows.
