Subject Matter:

Late 18th century. Seto ware. Stoneware with light brown crackled glaze. Decoration of flying crane in cobalt blue and brown. Inscription reads “yutaka ni yutaka ni osamaru” (How easily does it lead the observer into its essence). James Marshall Plumer Collection exhibition catalogue, #36.
