Subject Matter:
This is an early print by the artist, done in 1954. There are strong architectural designs in the print and reflect a room, wall, or building in Kyoto. Similar to some of his other works, Saito Kiyoshi likes to use the wood grain of the wood he used to make the print to enhance the composition of the piece but also to remind viewers of the process of printmaking.
Physical Description:
This print depicts a collection of patterned and textured rectangles resembling a traditional Japanese room. There is a seal and signature on the bottom right.
