Description

Copied from (1958/2.2)
Saito Kiyoshi was a 20th-century Sosaku-hanga artist, a movement that emphasized self-expression and the individual creation of prints. He issued his first prints in the now-famous "Winter in Aizu" series. This series was based on his hometown in Fukushima prefecture.

This print perhaps shows influence from Hawaii. The flower is a common Hawaiian flower and the pattern in the woman's hair is reminiscent of Hawaiian foliage. Kiyoshi spent six weeks there in 1964.

Physical Description:

This woodblock print depicts a profile of a woman looking right. She has a white flower in her hair and the hair itself is patterned with leaves. The background is a bright deep blue.
