St. Theresa
Gary Mayer
Description
Subject Matter:
As the title suggests, this work represents St. Theresa and is representative of works of saints that Mayer created during the 1980s. As seen in this work, the artist describes these figures as portraying a "carnal attitude."
Physical Description:
An image of a woman in the center, painted in red and pink with her mouth wide open and bright red short hair. A similar woman is repeated throughout in the same colors, but with her mouth shut. The background is very busy, with brown and black swirls all over.
