Description

Subject Matter:

This is a depiction of the Ryoanji stone garden in Kyoto. This stone garden, in particular, is considered the most famous stone garden and is located in a villa once owned by aristocrats. The garden itself was built by a highly respected Zen Buddhist monk, Tokuho Zenketsu.

Physical Description:

This print depicts a strip of tan sand with gray stones dispersed on top of it. The bottom third is a gray block and the subject of the image is contained in the upper third. There is a signature and red seal on the bottom left.
