Description

Subject Matter:

After his emigration to the United States, George Grosz largely replaced the scathing social commentary and brutal subject matter for which he was famous with more painterly landscapes and nudes; while in America the artist made several sojourns to Cape Cod, whose seashores would provide the setting for numerous landscape watercolors and prints in which sand dunes feature prominently.

Physical Description:

In the top left corner a house lies on top of a hill of sand dunes covered with grasses, with the ocean to the right and storm clouds swirling overhead
