Description

Subject Matter:

Number twenty-six of fifty, the series "Anatomy of Feelings" is comprised of etchings, most of them featuring nude figures with contorted or highly abstracted bodies. Emphasis is frequently placed on the sexual organs. The artist, Vladimir Yankilevsky was involved with the Soviet Nonconformist Art movement and often worked under a pseudonym to avoid punishment. Through several different series of prints, including "Anatomy of Feelings," Yankilevsky explores the relationship of people and their experiences in social spaces. 

Physical Description:

This print depicts two figures sitting at a table. On the right, there is a nude woman, whose stomach has a frame with a landscape scene inside. On the left, is a man, whose head is filled with a landscape scene. Above the table, there is a kind of thought-bubble with another landscape scene inside. The print is titled, numbered, signed, and dated in pencil at the bottom of the page.
