Description

Subject Matter:

Six columns are all that remain of the Temple of Kerdaseh, which in this photograph dominate the composition as they stand out amid a pile of rubble and low-lying shrubs. The Nile River, seen from the east, and a range of hills in the background form a narrow band that stretches across the lower register of the image. The dark figure of a man who sits in the shade of the ruined temple appears like a specter, almost imperceptible on casual viewing.

Physical Description:

A group of six columns occupy a central position in this photograph, with a river and hills visible in the distance.
