Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph depicts a partial view of the right side of an ornately colonnaded tower. The columns that wrap around the walkway and support the second level and cupola above it are wrapped in relief-carved floral decorations. The short walls that line the edge of the structure are pierced with detailed fretwork. Standing at the edge is a man, his back to the camera as he stares out towards the distant horizon. On his back is a sort of cylindrical bag, suggesting he might be a soldier or watchman. The tower is known as the Jasmine Tower, and is located in the Agra Fort, in Agra, India.
