Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph serves as an example of Davis's early work involving form and composition with the human figure.  This image represents a snapshot at an event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1975. In it, a woman, identified as Margarita, is half hidden, clutching her dress and looking up at a man in a suit. The man's back faces the camera, his dark suit obscuring half of the frame. Later, Davis would abandon the figure to explore landscape, architecture, and monuments in her photography.

Physical Description:

A photograph of a man and woman in a formal setting. The woman is half hidden by the man, whose back consumes half of the composition. The woman looks up as if talking to him.
