Description

Subject Matter:

In The Pool Player  a man is lining up a shot at the pool table with his cue. Another man sits casually behind him and another player is standing to his right. George Wesley Bellows played pool and often incorporated his friends and leisure time into his prints. The man standing to the right of the figure playing pool is possibly Robert Henri, a good friend and teacher of Bellows, and Bellows could be the seated man in the background. The two played at the National Arts Club and the Players' Club in New York City.

Physical Description:

In a dim lit interior space, a man with a pool cue in hand shoots a ball on a pool table. Two men observe, one seated in the background and the other standing adjacent to the pool player.  The figures sport bow ties, dress shirts, and vests.
