Description

Subject Matter:

Early in his career, Bone frequently depicted the slums and riverside docks of Glasgow, where he attended art school. This drawing, which might have been a study for a print, could depict one of the city's "temperance," or alcohol-free, hotels.

Physical Description:

This graphite and ink drawing depicts a standing, isolated figure in the far left corner, a group of four to its right, an isolated female in a white dress to their right, and another lone figure to her right. A large building with three windows acts as a background.
