Description

Subject Matter:

Kuba hats often served as symbols of prestige. This cap may have potentially be worn by a royal attendant. The stitched chevron patterns resemble designs similar to the patterns found on Kuba textile, basketry, sculpture, and female body scarifications.

Physical Description:

Cone-shaped cap with flattened top. The cap is stitched with black linear uneven chevron patterns. The bottom of the cap contains four symmetrically positioned flaps.
