Description

Subject Matter:

Francis Bedford was an acclaimed British landscape photographer with a background in illustration. This image depicts the Beauchamp Chapel, part of the church of St. Mary in Warwick, England. One of the acclaimed Gothic architectural achievements in England, it is dedicated to Our Lady. The center tomb, which is raised on a pedestal enclosed within an iron fence, is Richard Beauchamp's resting place. The effigy to the right, which is set on upon a chest of Purbec marble, depicts Earl Richard. The canopy above and weeping figures below are gilded in copper. Behind these decorations are pillars, which lead to stained glass.
