Description

Subject Matter:

Marilyn Bridges describes the markings and monuments that she photographs from above as “the messages of humankind.” As a pilot and photographer, she documents contemporary landscapes connected to ancient times, which addresses the human relationship to the earth and environment. This photograph depicts the Topkapi Palace in Turkey. This palace is situated in Istanbul, on the top of a hill in a small penisula between the Golden Horn, Sea of Marmar, and the Bosphorus straight. Now a muesum, the ornate structure was the court of the Ottoman empire between the 15th and 19th centuries.
