Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph depicts a wide view of a large construction site. Stacks and piles of pipes, beams, and other building materials are laid in an orderly jumble across the site's surface. Wooden armatures and fencing demarcate and section off specific areas. In the left and right sides of the image, two enormous cranes stand over the scene, their arms extending out of frame. In the far background two towering, modern structures stand. The presence of the finished buildings alludes to what the construction site will eventually yield. The scene is devoid of workers, however in the lower left corner of the image lies a pickax, a comparatively humble tool in regards to the monumental task ahead.
