Description

Subject Matter:

Shigeo Fukuda's poster was used to promote the 1984 exhibition 'Tradition et Nouvelles Techniques: 12 Graphistes Japonais' ('Tradition and New Techniques: 12 Japanese Graphic Artists') at Les Ateliers, a design school in Paris. In this poster, Fukuda creates a visual illusion in which minimalist lines form the silhouette of a dog—an ambiguous shape that perplexes viewers as they try to determine where the dog's body begins and ends.

Physical Description:

Brown drawing of a dog encircling itself on a black background.
