Description

Subject Matter:

This drawing is representative of Walkowitz's early figurative work when he depicted scenes from the Jewish Ghetto on the Lower East Side, New York City, and is characteristic of that period and subject matter. 

Physical Description:

A black and white ink drawing of two figures, filling the frame. The figure on left is in a suit and leans on crutches. The figure on the right, a woman wearing a striped skirt and black jacket, leans forward with eyes closed and a cup in her hands.
