Untitled
Larry Rivers; Experiments in Art and Technology; Styria Studio

Description
Subject Matter:
This work was included in a portfolio of works by 30 artists created as a fundraising effort for the project, Experiments in Art and Technology. Here, Rivers depicts Vladimir Lenin, founder of the Russian Communist Party, leader of the Bolshevik Revolution and architect and first head of the Soviet state. As in much of Rivers art, this piece combines different media, here silkscreen and lithography, and figure drawing. It also gives a nod to his interest in Pop in which he appropriates images from photographs and mass media.
Physical Description:
This very pink print is a three-quarter length portrait of Vladimir Lenin. Lenin's hair, eyes, beard, tie and lapels float out of the pink background. The black tie with yellow dotted stripes, is the most prominent detail.
