Description

Subject Matter:

This work was part of a portfolio of 30 works, created as a fund-raising effort for the project Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.). The project was partially-funded by the director of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm at the time. In this Abstract Expressionist style, Twombly's work for the portfolio showed his use of the calligraphic line. As such, he depicted groupings of diagonal and overlapping lines here in order to play with the notions of the hidden and the visible, often conjuring ideas of memory and of oblivion.

Physical Description:

This is an abstract print in black and light blue. With very little border, the print consists of a series of diagonal lines primarily, reaching from top right to bottom left. There are also horizontal black lines towrds the top and bottom of the image.
