Description

Subject Matter:

In this drawing, Mackey depicts a centralized figure, a common theme in much of his artwork. As in this work, his art is often characterized by energetic lines and bright colors. The Detroit-based artist was self-taught and provided inspiration and guidance for his grandson, Detroit artist Tyree Guyton.

Physical Description:

At the center of the drawing is a woman, drawn in pencil. There is an orange edge on the left side, with light blue crayon colored overall. The woman has dark circles for cheeks, in pencil, and is wearing a shirt and skirt. Created on reused paper, the paper is glossy on the back and matte on the front.
