Description

Subject Matter:

Jim Dine, known for his witty responses to American consumerist culture, in this print presents a guide to constructing something, but what that is is totally ambiguous. Dine's facetious instructions ("buy a saw" comes to mind), appear to mock the do-it-yourself culture of American society as well as his own "happenings". Made for Experiments in Art and Technology portfolio and initiative The New York Collection for Stockholm: 30 Artists, Dine creates a parody that takes on a performative element as it is printed again and again.
