Description

Subject Matter:

This whimsical print juxtaposes historical figures, art motifs and images of everyday modern life to comment on the chaos of our society. In the lower left hand corner, a figure who appears strikingly similar to Marco Polo seems to view the scene at large. He is surveying a new, unknown world. Several Renaissance style angels also watch the ongoing madness as new and old forms of transportation head to uncertain destinations.

The artist also makes humorous references to the organization responsible for the portfolio of prints this work is a member of, Experiments in Art and Technology. There are other sarcastic textual features in this work that align it with a comic or cartoon style.
