Description

Subject Matter:

This photograph depicts a panoramic view of a suburban park after a recent rainfall. The elongated horizontal composition is centered on the meeting of two paths, one a straight, paved walkway, and the other a trodden dirt clearing. The paved path on the left slopes down a hill towards the viewer, its surface slick with recent rainfall. It terminates at the wide dirt clearing, which extends across the right side of the composition and winds through a copse of trees. In between these two walkways are long expanses of dark grass, punctuated intermittently by young trees. In the distance, a couple of figures stroll down the dirt path, a pile of lumber lies on the ground at the left. Reflecting in depressions in the earth, a smattering of puddles shine on the ground. In the upper left of the image the sun breaks through the rainclouds. In the right of the image can be seen the distant spires and rooftops of the city of Prague, their forms still shrouded in the mirk of the storm.
