Description

Subject Matter:

This is an outdoor scene showing the fluid outline of a tree trunk and branches contrasted against the angularity of buildings behind it. Jean Paul Slusser was a professor of drawing and painting at the University of Michigan and was appointed the first director of the Museum of Art in 1946.

Physical Description:

This is a watercolor painting in a vertical format painted in tones of blue and green. It shows a large tree, with a black trunk and branches and without any leaves, in front of two houses. The sky is painted in a bright blue.
