Description

Subject Matter:

This beaker vase is characterized by an antiquarian taste, mimicking the shape of the gu wine vessel cast in bronze dating back to the Shang Dynasty. The flowering branches grow from the hollows of strangely shaped rocks, indicating the flourishing garden culture of the time.

Physical Description:

Blue and white beaker vase (gu) that has a flared rim that thins into a long body and then splays again at the foot a little less wide than the rim. The vase is decorated with flowers with patterned leaves in the background.
