Subject Matter:
This painting is representative of Bradley Jones' focus on human, often women's, figures in the latter part of his life and career. He often painted nude or partially nude women. Jones was born and raised in Detroit, and was inspired by Detroit's vibrancy and history. Early in his career, he was influenced by British artist, David Hockney. Jones was well respected by his fellow Detroit artists, taught painting at Wayne County Community College, and was a part of the Cass Corridor group of artists.
Physical Description:
This painting has an overall blue and white palette, with pink and purple tones and shows a crowded group of people seated on chairs with tables. Most of the people are nude or partially-nude women. The main focus is a nude woman in the center wearing a top hat and holding a cane. In the foreground is a woman wearing clothes and sunglasses, her arms are crosed in front of her body. The men in the painting are fully clothed and each wears a hat.
