Description

Subject Matter:

This is reminiscent of much of Wildenheim's sculpture in which his forms are abstracted, gnarled and have an unsettling element to them. Wildenheim had to flee the Nazis when they took over Holland, and his ceramics and sculptures such as this one, tend to have a strange and emotional quality to them that may reflect these tumultous experiences.

Physical Description:

This vertical abstract sculpture resembles the figure of a woman reaching behind her head to comb her hair. She holds a bowl in one hand and rests on a base in an inverted "V" shape.
